Elektra Actor Application

Minnesota Opera is accepting headshots and resumes for an adult male actor for the role of “Fritz” in Elektra. Auditions will be held by invitation only on Monday, June 3, 2019.

Production Concept:
It is 1929 post World War I Germany. Action takes place in a Weimar silent film studio where the expressionist film director “Fritz” is working on his latest film – an adaptation of Sophocles’ Elektra.

Role Description:
The actor will be playing “Fritz,” based on the director Fritz Lang.
We are looking for a very physical actor with mime skills.
This is a non-speaking role, but the character Fritz will be interacting with singing actors the entire show and helping to tell the story through their physical acting.
Actors of all races and ethnicities are encouraged to submit materials for consideration.
This is a paid position.

Production Schedule:
Staging Rehearsals: September 10 – 26, 2019
Technical & Dress Rehearsals: September 28 – October 3, 2019
Performances: October 5, 8, 10, 12, and 13, 2019

Venues:
Rehearsals at the Minnesota Opera Center in Minneapolis
Performances at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul

Auditions:
Auditions will be by invitation only. Artists will be asked to present a one-minute monologue with words then, directly after, without words. Artists should also be prepared to improv some situations drawn from the show with the director.
